Carbon Element “C” Park

Carbon Element “C” Park

As a core element (Carbon) of the Zero Carbon Park, this focus is a way to differentiate break through new solutions to persistent problems that plague the world’s air, land and water. Element “C” focusses on the ways the carbon our world produces in many forms should be considered a new resource. Many highly industrialized nations have accepted to “put a price on carbon” and therefore to offset their carbon footprint. But that is not enough.

The circular economic value proposition asks all to reassess carbon as a useful commodity with more value to repurpose (for example) than to burn as a low-grade fuel. The “C” sub-park aims to utilize an abundant local industry residual material into a “value adding” industry carbon-based material needed to support Saudi Arabia’s new green economy.

For example, repurposing petroleum coke from the refining industry to produce green graphite material, a building block for 21st century green material and manufacturing value added products. This example elegantly shows the high value product hiding inside the low value commodity: and in circular economic value chain success removes a material that previously had little value as fuel but disproportionate impact on slowing Carbon Neutrality attainment, and as a global source point of land, water and air pollution.
